18 years ago…I don’t think anyone will ever forget it. I just finished the book “Fall and Rise. The Story of 9/11”. I highly recommend it. It is a tough read for sure. I had to put it down several times. I had some bad dreams too. But I am so glad I read it. It shared some personal history behind the victims and insight into all that happened that day.
It was an emotional read for sure. It shares a lot about the human toll it took. For my family members, it had a little blurb about Dave and Lynn on page 38. They were angels here on earth before they gained their wings on 9-11. It is heart-wrenching to imagine what the last minutes were like for all the victims. Horrifying.
I learned a lot about what went wrong on this horrific day in history, the lack of communication, what went right, about so many heroes, etc. It was an insane day. But, I would like to believe that there are now better communication systems in place and I know security has increased for sure. I know I am fine with long lines at airports if it means people are being searched more thoroughly.
I heard on the news that there will be 15 new NYFD graduates today who had a parent that was killed on duty on 9/11. It gave me goosebumps. I have such respect for these brave men and women (14 men & 1 woman). Sending much love, strength, and prayers out to these courageous new graduates on this crazy anniversary.
So, yes, I say read the book. It is informative, compelling and emotional. Xoxo
